About the event

Dawn Edwards Artist Bio: Dawn Edwards is a felt artist and tutor based in Plainwell, Michigan. She sells her work under the label ‘Felt So Right’ and teaches extensively within the USA and internationally. Dawn also is the co-coordinator of the not-for-profit group, 'Felt United', which currently has over 7,000 members world-wide. Dawn’s felt works have appeared in exhibitions, art shows, magazines and books most recently in the Fiber Art Now magazine’s Felt: Fiber Transformed 2019; the 2017, 2018 and 2019 issues of the Australian 'FELT' Magazine, (which included her felt pine cone hat on the cover). Numerous images of Dawn’s hats, as well as an interview were featured in Issue 127, June 2017 of the International Feltmakers Association ‘Felt Matters’ journal. Several images of Dawn's work, as well as a color essay, shared the pages of the new tri-lingual book published by Ellen Bakker/Textile-link, 'Worldwide Colours of Felt'. Workshop Description: In this two-day workshop, we will create fabulous felt vessels inspired by nature. You may choose to make a vessel with cracks resembling cracked mud, or a vessel resembling a woodsy forest floor. Come and explore methods of creating great visual interest through a fabulous, highly textured surface. We will form our 3D wet-felted vessels using a flat resist (or for the cracked mud technique, a double resist). Felting with a resist(s) will produce a seamless, hollow shape. You will love the technique and tips offered in this workshop and will find numerous ways of incorporating these methods in future projects, such as bags, hats, and wall-hangings. Class fee: $350 includes some materials and lunch. A full supplies list (including materials provided by Wool-ology) will be available as we get closer to class date. Please call shop at 413-350-5158 for more information. Pre-registration is required for all classes; you can register by calling shop or online at
