Needle Felted Sheepy People with Jane Dyer
Time & Location
About the event
Jane Dyer is best known for her children’s book illustrations, mostly in watercolor, and many N.Y. Times bestsellers, including Mem Fox’s TIME FOR BED, appropriately with sheep on the cover. Her most recent two books include photographs of her needle-felted characters, (taken by Jeanne Birdsall), and she plans on making her next book about what she calls “Sheepy People”.
In this workshop, Jane shares her technique for making these characters. You will learn to create your own 6”-7” sheep, and your kit will include wool, needles, eyes, a doll stand, fabrics or wool to make a simple outfit. It will also have pipecleaners for armatures and one accessory to make your choice of a gardener, a carpenter, a painter, a knitter, a doctor, a teacher, a ballerina, and more. You will need to bring a felting pad or purchase one at the shop that day.
This is for all level needle-felters, including beginners. Some simple handsewing skills will be used for aprons or scarves. Patterns provided.
