About the event

Workshop Description: Participants will learn about upcycling plastic bags through the process of fusing. Using the heat and pressure of a household iron, a new type of textile is formed from un-recyclable plastic bags and wrappers that would usually be thrown away. This 101 class teaches the basics of plastic bag fusing and each participant will complete a final project using the fused textile. Sewing machine experience encouraged but not necessary. Feel free to bring your sewing machine and any plastic bags you would like to use in your project. More information about what bags to use can be found using the "Plastic Bag Recycling Guidelines" found here:

The mission of Lou's Upcycles is to take plastic otherwise headed for the landfill and upcycle it into wearable trashion art. Quilting, scrapbooking, collaging and sewing techniques are used to create ONE OF A KIND accessories. Every bit of the "fabric" is fused plastic, only the adornments and closures are recycled and upcycled materials. Class fee: $45 all materials included
